Monday 18th June 2007Midsummer MadnessThis weekend from Friday to Sunday it's the Fête de la Musique. It's a recent tradition that was started in France in 1982 by the Minister of Culture. It's now been spreading across Europe with live music performances just about everywhere on or around midsummer's night (July 21). Sounds aboundGeneva effectively turns to a huge musical stage with hundreds of free concerts of all types: you'll find live music being performed in the streets and squares, in restaurants and bars. Some areas will be closed to cars but more buses will be laid on and they'll be running longer hours over the weekend. And that's not all. As the long evenings grow warmer you'll find a wealth of festivals and concerts all around the region. So why not browse the AngloINFO What's On Guide to see what's happening near you and have a look through the Events & Festivals category too.
